The work is part of the ongoing Interstate 81 Viaduct Project, which aims to improve the aging highway infrastructure in the region.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cnycentral.com\/newsletter-daily\/traffic-alert-lane-closure-i81-onondaga-syracuse-pavement-repairs-viaduct-project-construction-change\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">According to state transportation officials<\/a>, the pavement repairs are necessary to support the larger viaduct reconstruction effort.
