NEW YORK CITY \u2014 Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal has made an endorsement in the highly contested Assembly District 66 race. <\/p>\n
The borough president has endorsed Jeannine Kiely for the June primary. Kiely has served as the Democratic district leader for the 66th Assembly District, Part B, since 2019. <\/p>\n
She also serves as President of Friends of the Elizabeth Street Garden.<\/p>\n
Assembly District 66 consists of a number of neighborhoods in Manhattan including Greenwich Village, Tribeca, SoHo, NoHo, as well as portions of Battery Park City and the Meatpacking District.<\/p>\n
Assemblywoman Deborah Glick announced last year that she would not seek re-election in 2026. Glick has also endorsed Kiely in the race. <\/p>\n
Five other candidates are also vying for the Assembly District seat. <\/p>\n
“I\u2019m elated to endorse Jeannine Kiely for the NYS Assembly because of her steadfast commitment to public education and her years of work at the grassroots level. I worked closely with Jeannine on passing landmark legislation in Albany to support children with dyslexia and other learning differences. As a community leader, there are few who can match Jeannine\u2019s understanding of Lower Manhattan as the former chair of our local community board and over a decade as a district leader. Also, Jeannine\u2019s the only Little League mom in the race \u2014which has to count for a lot! Jeannine\u2019s the real deal and I\u2019m proud to support her,” Hoylman-Sigal said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Kiely has also netted endorsements from former Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Council Member Christopher Marte, former Council Member Justin Brannan, Downtown Independent Democrats, Coalition for a District Alternative, Village Reform Democratic Club, the 504 Democratic Club and a host of district leaders and state committee members. <\/p>\n
