Bronx native and hip-hop legend Cardi B brought hundreds of fans to Highbridge for a one-day pop-up event promoting her new hair care line, Grow Good Beauty.<\/p>\n
People lined up for hours outside the future Hip-Hop Museum, with some even camping out overnight.<\/p>\n
Erika Ramirez-Calderon told News 12 she got there at 6 p.m. the night before. She was the first one in line.<\/p>\n
Another fan named Irene said, \u201cShe\u2019s a good rapper and I love who she is from the inside out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cardi\u2019s new brand is a hair care line inspired by her Dominican roots. Ramirez-Calderon said that the message resonated with her.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a Hispanic woman, we get a lot of lash on the textures of our hair, and a lot of people are not knowledgeable on the textures of our hair,\u201d she said. \u201cI love that she knows her hair texture. She\u2019s supporting us together as a Latina woman and how to care for ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n
But not everyone left happy. Some fans told News 12 they waited for hours expecting to shop for the products, only to learn the pop-up was mainly a photo opportunity and that no merchandise was being sold on site.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m disappointed. I\u2019ve been here since 8:17 in the morning,\u201d one fan said.<\/p>\n
Another person said, \u201cThat\u2019s the misconception about the post, about everything. That\u2019s why everybody is upset. Everybody is getting off the line. There\u2019s no actual products being sold at this pop-up. I thought that was the whole point of the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the presale is currently sold out, Cardi says the products officially launch on April 15.
