The aircraft, identified as a Jazz Aviation flight operating on behalf of Air Canada from Montreal, was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members when it collided with a fire truck on the runway while landing, according to officials.<\/p>\n
The fire truck had been crossing the tarmac<\/a> just before midnight after receiving clearance to respond to another aircraft reporting an on-board issue, authorities said. Air traffic control audio captured a controller urgently warning the vehicle to stop moments before the crash.<\/p>\n The impact severed the cockpit, killing the pilot and co-pilot, both based in Canada, and injuring dozens of others.
