The New
\nYork City Center Encores! staging of Michael John LaChiusa<\/a>‘s The Wild Party<\/a>, which plays the Manhattan venue through March 29, has released additional video highlights. Watch Jasmine Amy Rogers<\/a> and Adrienne Warren<\/a> dazzle with\u00a0“Best Friend” in the video above, and watch\u00a0Rogers and Jelani Alladin<\/a> deliver a soaring\u00a0“People Like Us” below.<\/p>\n

Lili-Anne Brown is directing the Encores! staging with choreography
\nby Katie Spelman<\/a> and guest music director Daryl Waters<\/a> at the baton.<\/p>\n

Rogers (BOOP!) and Tony winner Warren (The Last Five Years<\/a>) lead the company as Queenie and Kate, respectively,
\nalongside Tony winner Tonya Pinkins<\/a>, an alum of the musical’s original Broadway
\ncast, as Dolores Montoya; Joseph A. Byrd as Phil D\u2019Armano, Claybourne
\nElder (Company<\/a>) as Jackie, Evan Tyrone Martin as Eddie Mackrel, Alladin (Frozen<\/a>) as Black, Wesley J. Barnes<\/a> as Oscar D\u2019Armano, Jordan Donica<\/a> (Camelot<\/a>) as Burrs, KJ Hippensteel<\/a> as Gold, Andrew Kober<\/a> as Goldberg, Lesli Margherita<\/a> (Gypsy<\/a>) as Mae, Betsy Morgan<\/a> (Masquerade) as
\n Sally, Meghan Murphy as Miss Madelaine True, and Maya Rowe as Nadine.
\nStandbys Curtis Bannister and Kyrie Courter<\/a> round out the
\ncompany. Casting is by The Telsey Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adapted from Joseph Moncure March<\/a>‘s poem of the same name by LaChiusa and original director George C. Wolfe<\/a>, The Wild Party
\n centers on a prohibition-era New York City house party being thrown by
\nQueenie and Burrs as their relationship falls apart, an evening that
\nbecomes something of a rager thanks to a bathtub full of gin, ample
\ncocaine, and a tragic orgy. <\/p>\n

The musical premiered on Broadway in 2000 via Off-Broadway’s Public
\nTheater, earning seven Tony Award nominations the same year, including
\nfor Best Musical. In an apparent coincidence, the work premiered shortly
\n after the world premiere of a separate musical adaptation of the same
\nsource material featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Andrew Lippa<\/a> (The Addams Family<\/a>). That work played Off-Broadway via Manhattan Theatre Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The production also features choreography by Katie Spelman, scenic design
\n by Arnel Sancianco, costume design by Linda Cho<\/a>, lighting design by
\nJustin Townsend<\/a>, sound design by Alex Neumann<\/a>, and hair and wig design
\nby Tom Watson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The production is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals<\/a>.<\/p>\n
