UPPER EAST SIDE, NY \u2014 An 83-year-old man has died after weeks on life support from being shoved into the subway tracks on the Upper East Side, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office.<\/p>\n
The suspect, 34-year-old Brooklynite Bairon Hernandez, was first arrested and charged with attempted murder, but now that Richard Williams has died, his charges have been upgraded to murder in the second degree. <\/p>\n
According to the NYPD, the suspect first pushed a 30-year-old man and then Williams onto the tracks on the Southbound F and Q line on Sunday at approximately 11:30 a.m., at the Lexington Avenue-63 Street subway station on March 8.<\/p>\n
Then, the suspect left the station and ran away, police said.<\/p>\n
Medics rushed both men to NewYork-Presbyterian\/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where the 30-year-old was listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n
Hernandez’s other charges include attempted assault, assault, and reckless endangerment. The Supreme Court arraignment is now set for March 30.<\/p>\n
