{"id":176100,"date":"2026-03-26T15:25:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T15:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/176100\/"},"modified":"2026-03-26T15:25:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T15:25:06","slug":"suv-driver-arrested-for-hit-run-crash-that-killed-woman-69-in-manhattan-crosswalk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/176100\/","title":{"rendered":"SUV driver arrested for hit-run crash that killed woman, 69, in Manhattan crosswalk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An SUV driver has been arrested for a hit-and-run crash <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/03\/25\/woman-68-fatally-struck-by-hit-and-run-suv-driver-in-midtown-manhattan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that killed a 69-year-old woman<\/a> in a Midtown Manhattan crosswalk, police said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Bryan Alexis Guashpa Rumipamba is accused of slamming into Espina Bundley, who was crossing Second Ave. in the crosswalk at E. 57th St., as he made a turn in his Chevrolet Suburban about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Bundley was knocked into a protected bike lane, where stunned witnesses found her. Medics rushed her to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyp.org\/locations\/newyork-presbyterian-weill-cornell-medical-center\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell<\/a> but she could not be saved.<\/p>\n<p>Bundley lived in Richmond Hill, Queens, according to cops.<\/p>\n<p>The driver sped off but hours later cops arrested 43-year-old Guashpa Rumipamba. He is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.<\/p>\n<p>Guashpa Rumipamba lives in the Rockaways in Queens, cops said.
