An 83-year-old veteran<\/a> who was allegedly shoved onto subway tracks in New York City by an illegal immigrant with a long criminal history has died from his injuries, the Department of Homeland Security said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Richard Williams, a retired Air Force<\/a> pilot, died March 17 after he and another man were allegedly pushed onto the tracks at the Lexington Avenue-63rd Station days earlier.<\/p>\n

The alleged attacker, Honduran national Bairon Posada-Hernandez, 34, was arrested March 10 and faces a murder charge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

John Pena, 30, the other man allegedly pushed onto the tracks, helped pull Williams back onto the platform moments before a train rolled into the station, the New York Post reported.<\/p>\n

After the attack, Williams was taken to a hospital, where doctors said he suffered a brain bleed<\/a> and underwent surgery. He had no brain activity after the procedure, doctors said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Williams’ death has been ruled a homicide.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I want him to go to the Venezuela prison, the worst place he could go to,” his daughter, Debbie Williams, previously told the newspaper. “I want him to suffer for the rest of his life. Prison justice would be appropriate.”<\/p>\n

She said her father had recently won a five-year battle with prostate cancer six months ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Posada-Hernandez, whom the Department of Homeland Security called a “serial criminal,” has been deported from the United States four times, the agency said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Bairon Posada-Hernandez is a serial criminal and four-time deported illegal alien from Honduras who should\u00a0never\u00a0have been able to walk our streets and harm\u00a0innocent\u00a0Americans,”\u00a0said\u00a0Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Federal authorities are asking New York not to release Posada-Hernandez back onto the streets. New York has adopted sanctuary policies limiting cooperation between local and federal authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

U.S. Immigration and Custioms Enforcement has lodged a detainer for Posada-Hernandez. Fox News Digital has reached out to Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s office and the New York Public Defenders office.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Posada-Hernandez’s criminal history includes 15 prior charges,\u00a0including simple assault, domestic violence,\u00a0obstruction of police, possession of a weapon, drug\u00a0possession\u00a0and\u00a0aggravated assault.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He first entered the country Jan. 2,\u00a02008,\u00a0and has been deported\u00a0four\u00a0different times, most recently in 2020.
