It\u2019s part of the New York City Department of Transportation\u2019s Open Streets program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The block of West 231st Street was closed to traffic for a six-hour Trick or Treat block party six days before Halloween.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt\u2019s about the community and a safe way to celebrate Halloween,\u201d Shakir Seagers, CEO of Theory 9, a group that hosted the event, told PIX11 News.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">There were balloon animals and face painting, scavenger hunts and costume contests, but perhaps the most fun, at least for me, was the hip-hop Halloween dance class.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The parents seemed to be having as much fun as the little people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Organizers are already planning the fifth annual Trick or Street party for next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
