Ben opened up about how being a father-of-three, to Fin, Violet Anne Affleck, 20, and Samuel Garner Affleck, 14, has been a positively altering experience for him.

He revealed to People: “My life has really changed a lot. Once I had kids, it became very obvious to me that the priority was time with them.”

Ben’s former director during the movie The Tender Bar was George Clooney, who understood the doting father’s budding priorities.

Ben expressed just how thoughtful the fellow actor and father was about his family time.

He said: “George was spectacular in that way. He’s a dad too and would let me out on the weekends or cut me early. He really understood and appreciated how important it was for me to see my kids.”

After Ben and Jennifer divorced, Ben’s schedule drastically changed, which meant the actor had to switch around his hours to create a work-life balance.

Ben explained: “When I got divorced and had half the time. … So I’m trying to fit a whole week of dad into three and a half days, [and it’s] hard and stressful.”

The actor shared: “My standards really changed. I don’t want to go travel and do something if it’s not really rewarding and meaningful. Yeah, I have to work. The kids know I have to work. Their mom has to work. They understand that. But it’s not like I’m some martyr for my kids. I get more out of it than anything else.”

Jennifer also got candid about the hardships of co-parenting, explaining: “When your kids grow up in two separate households, I become mom and dad, and he becomes dad and mom. You kind of can’t help it, right? Because you don’t have the benefit of both sides of the yin and yang being in the same house,” per Bustle.

She shared that there’s a “little bit of a loss in that,” but she prefers to think positively, and added that she tends to “let go and not focus so much on bringing up.”
