The Jets improved to 1-7.

Jets quarterback Justin Fields, who earlier in the week was publicly criticized by team ownership and appeared set to be benched, guided the Jets offense to 503 total yards.

Fields went 21-for-32 for a touchdown and 244 yards. Meanwhile, New York rushed for 255 yards.

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Flacco went 21-for-31 passing for 217 yards and two touchdowns but saw the Bengals’ final two drives stall out.

Bengals turn the ball over on down, drop game to previously-winless Jets

Cincinnati bungles a golden opportunity to move back to .500. They are 3-5 after letting this one slip away to a recently-hapless Jets team.

Jets score vs. Bengals | New York is leading the contest4Q, 1:54 – Jets 39, Bengals 38

Breece Hall rolled out to the right, lobbed a ball to the back of the end zone and tight end Mason Taylor brought the ball in to tie the game. Nick Folk’s successful point-after attempt put the game Jets in front. The Bengals are at risk of losing this game.

Cincinnati can’t respond, Jets will drive to take the lead

4Q, 6:50 – Bengals 38, Jets 32

The Bengals offense can only do so much, and a three-and-out forced a punt back to the 0-7 Jets, who can take the lead with a touchdown and successful point-after attempt.

Jets score vs. Bengals | It’s a one-score game again

4Q, 7:52 – Bengals 38, Jets 32

Breece Hall ran 27 yards to once again make it a one-score game, and Justin Fields completed a pass to convert the two-point conversion. The rushing touchdown was Hall’s second of the game. New York is up to 241 rushing yards.

If the Bengals manage to pull this game out, well, let’s wait and see. That’s definitely still in question.

Bengals score vs. Jets | New York trailing by two scores again

4Q, 10:21 – Bengals 38, Jets 24

Chase Brown scored on a short run, marking his second touchdown of the day (his first was a receiving score). Brown has 93 combined rushing (61) and receiving (32) yards today.

Jets score vs. Bengals | An interesting fourth quarter to come

4Q, 14:17 – Bengals 31, Jets 24

Breece Hall finished off the Jets’ scoring drive, and quarterback Justin Fields scampered in for the two-point conversion. It is a seven-point game with plenty of time left to go. Once again, Cincinnati is going to have to win by a shootout.

Jets knocking on the door with one quarter to go

4Q, 15:00 – Bengals 31, Jets 16

The fourth quarter is going to start with the ball on the Cincinnati 7-yard line and the Jets facing a 2nd-and-4. At the very least, New York has managed to hang around today.

Bengals score vs. Jets | Cincinnati matching field goals with touchdowns

3Q, 2:34 – Bengals 31, Jets 16

The Jets put a field goal on the scoreboard, the Bengals answer back with a touchdown. That’s the kind of math you like as a Bengals fan. The latest Bengals player to score was Semaje Perine, who scampered in from 32 yards out. Running back Chase Brown has more all-purpose yards but Perine is Cincinnati’s leading rusher today (61 yards). Perine is also the fourth different player to hit the end zone today for the Bengals.

Jets score vs. Bengals | It’s a one-score game at Paycor Stadium

3Q, 6:12 – Bengals 24, Jets 16

The Jets went 80 yards in 10 plays and finished off a drive with another Nick Folk field goal. New York is within a touchdown and a two-point conversion of tying the game.

Jets score vs. Bengals | Cincinnati takes a lead into halftime

Halftime: Bengals 24, Jets 13

Cincinnati isn’t getting any pressure on New York quarterback Justin Fields. You can expect that to be dissected and discussed this coming week because it is glaring. The Jets are carving through Cincinnati’s defense, and put points on the board one final time in the first half − a 25-yard Nick Folk field goal at time expired.

Bengals score vs. Jets | Chase Brown powers his way into the end zone

Q2, 1:15 – Bengals 24, Jets 10

Cincinnati responded to New York’s touchdown with another score. This time, quarterback Joe Flacco found Chase Brown across the middle, and Brown bullied his way into the end zone. The passing score went for 19 yards. Brown has 73 all-purpose yards so far today. Flacco is 15-for-20 for 178 yards and two touchdowns thus far.

Jets score vs. Bengals | New York finds a rare touchdown

2Q, 5:18, Bengals 17, Jets 10

The Bengals defense is unraveling as the Jets have scored on back-to-back possessions, and their last score was the first touchdown by the club since Oct. 5. On fourth down from the Bengals’ 15-yard line, quarterback Justin Fields found Tyler Johnson on a fade to the back corner of the end zone.

Bengals score vs. Jets | Flacco-to-Higgins connection is on

2Q, 10:45 – Bengals 17, Jets 3.

That looked too easy for the Bengals as Joe Flacco hit a streaking Tee Higgins in-stride on a 44-yard deep shot. Higgins held the ball aloft as he crossed into Paycor Stadium’s south end zone.

Cincinnati has scored on three of its four drive so far, and the offense has amassed 172 yards with most of the second quarter still to be played.

Jets score vs. Bengals | The rout isn’t on yet

2Q, 12:12 – Bengals 10, Jets 3

Kicker Nick Folk banged home a 46-yard field goal to get the Jets on the scoreboard. That capped a seven play, 46-yard drive by the Jets. A 25-yard run by Isaiah Williams keyed the scoring drive for the visitors.

Bengals take lead, shutout into second quarter

2Q, 15:00 – Bengals 10, Jets 0

Cincinnati out-gained New York 101-31 in the first quarter and the Jets are yet to cross midfield.

Bengals score vs. Jets | Is the rout on?

1Q, 5:35 – Bengals 10, Jets 0

Cincinnati didn’t waste time making New York pay for its decision on the failed 4th-and-1 conversion. The Bengals went 35 yards on five plays in 2:41 as Joe Flacco scored on the quarterback keeper from just outside the end zone after a Semaje Perine 10-yard run was stopped just short of the goal line.

Bengals defense gets a big fourth-down stop

The Jets did something regrettable that a desperate team might be more inclined to consider: Run a run-toss sweep on 4th-and-1 on their side of midfield, and do all of this early in the first quarter. Barrett Carter stopped the play, which started on New York’s 36-yard line, for a two-yard loss. The Bengals took control of the ball inside Evan McPherson’s range.

A decision like that by the Jets could turn the game, and we’re only midway through the first quarter.

Bengals score vs. Jets | McPherson field goal caps opening drive

1Q, 10:14 – Bengals 3, Jets 0

A promising, 11-play, 67-yard opening drive for Cincinnati with Joe Flacco under center produced points for the hosts, but could have produced more. The drive stalled out in the red zone and Cincinnati had to settle for a 26-yard field goal from Evan McPherson. Flacco was 3-for-6 on the drive, Chase Brown ran for 31 yards on three carries, the offensive line bossed the line of scrimmage and the possession could still serve as a solid foundation for the game.

Jets win the coin toss, Bengals offense up first

Quarterback Joe Flacco will get an early opportunity to continue his strong play of late as the Jets won the coin toss, deferred and kicked off to Cincinnati to begin the game.

Some interesting starting lineup choices for Bengals

There can sometimes be difference between the big-name players announced as starters to help get the crowd going inside Paycor Stadium and who actually end up starting. But based on the raucous pre-game production to announce the Bengals’ defense starters, Cam Taylor-Britt (didn’t play Oct. 16 as a coach’s decision) and Trey Hendrickson (didn’t play Oct. 16 due to a hip injury) get starting nods today. So did Shemar Stewart, who has been hurt in recent weeks.

Bengals vs. Jets live score updates and highlights

The Bengals face the Jets in NFL Week 8 at Paycor Stadium. Cincinnati is trying to get back to .500 on the season and New York is still trying to get the first win of the season. Quarterback Joe Flacco will start for the Bengals and Justin Fields will start for the Jets. Cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner is inactive for the Jets. Gardner was an All-American for the Cincinnati Bearcats and has been an All-Pro for the Jets.
