EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Residents on Manhattan Avenue and surrounding streets say potholes have made their neighborhood dangerous to navigate.<\/p>\n
Tigheshawn Taylor, who lives on the cross street, Northfield Avenue, said the conditions affect driving, parking and walking on the sidewalk.<\/p>\n
Taylor said her son\u2019s car has been hit by cars swerving to avoid potholes, the car was simply parked on the street.<\/p>\n
The street has multiple craters that drivers cannot avoid without hitting another. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been here 38 years, and this is the worst it\u2019s ever been,\u201d Taylor said.<\/p>\n
Taylor said her son\u2019s car has been hit by cars swerving to avoid potholes, and the car was simply parked on the street. <\/p>\n
\u201cOne time we had a car swerving and boom, hit a tree just trying to, ya know, duckin\u2019 holes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Northfield Avenue, which crosses Manhattan, also has numerous potholes.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very frustrating, especially when you pay your taxes on time, and property taxes going up but where is the money going?\u201d said Taylor.<\/p>\n
Residents said when they contact the city, they are told someone will address the issue eventually.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just feel like the city could do a better job,\u201d said Gianni Collins, who asked city officials to consider whether they would want the street in their own neighborhood.<\/p>\n
The Mayor\u2019s Office and City Hall did not immediately respond to requests for comment. <\/p>\n
19 News was told the law director is expected to get in touch on the issue.<\/p>\n
Collins said a fix would be welcome relief.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat would make me very happy, that would make me feel very good, because that\u2019s not something I wanna keep dealing with,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Taylor agreed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be awesome, it\u2019d be a blessing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
