PEOTONE, IL \u2014 Residents of a Peotone home were safe after a chimney fire Friday morning, fire officials said. <\/p>\n

At approximately 8:16 a.m. Friday, the Manhattan Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 29000 block of South Egyptian Trail for a reported structure fire involving a chimney.<\/p>\n

Fire units arrived on scene within 8 minutes of dispatch and reported smoke and fire showing from the chimney and roof of a small single-story residential structure. Due to the location in a non-hydranted area, a full still alarm was requested to provide additional personnel, apparatus, and support for rural water operations.<\/p>\n

Firefighters quickly established a rural water supply, stretched an attack line, and initiated an aggressive fire attack. Crews simultaneously conducted a primary search and confirmed that all occupants were out of the residence. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.<\/p>\n

The fire was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes. 1-800 Board Up was contacted to assist the homeowner with securing the structure following the incident.<\/p>\n

Mutual aid departments assisting at the scene included Monee, Beecher, Manteno, University Park, Mokena, Frankfort, Grant Park, Bourbonnais, New Lenox, and Matteson.<\/p>\n

Additional agencies provided station coverage to ensure continued emergency response capability within the district, including Aroma Park and Elwood (Station 81), and Orland and Kankakee (Station 83).<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Manhattan Fire Protection District and MABAS Division 19 Fire Investigators.<\/p>\n
