The new eatery at the West 52nd Street corner directly opposite the giant Sheraton New York hotel will likely be called Brasserie American by Michael Lomonaco \u2014 named for the popular, former Porter House chef who is now culinary director of the Serafina company\u2019s Brasserie Cognac brand.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38930351\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/124552809.jpg\" alt=\"A yellow taxi on a city street in front of a building with a &quot;For Lease or Sale&quot; sign.\" class=\"wp-image-38930351\"  \/>SL Green has leased the entire, nearly 28,000 square-foot building at 800 Seventh Ave. to Serafina Restaurant Group.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38930353\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2019-new-york-ny-features-20376447.jpg\" alt=\"Chef Michael Lomonaco in a kitchen with his arms crossed.\" class=\"wp-image-38930353\"  \/>Michael Lomanaco, Serafina\u2019s culinary director, will likely have his name on the company\u2019s coming restaurant across the street from the Sheraton New York.  Tamara Beckwith\/NY Post<\/p>\n<p>SL Green executive vice-president for retail Brett Herschenfeld confirmed the tip we heard on the street. He said Serafina \u201cwill put money\u201d into upgrading the space that\u2019s been dark for nearly three years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Serafina guys are true New Yorkers like us,\u201d Herschenfeld said of Italian-born owners Fabio Granato and Vittorio Assaf. \u201cWe\u2019re beyond happy to have them. They have done a lot for this city. This is the second deal we\u2019ve done with them,\u201d he said, referring to a new Brasserie Cognac that will open in April at 461 Fifth Ave.<\/p>\n<p>Both new locations mark a welcome return to the dining scene for Lomonaco, who\u2019s been badly missed by food lovers since Porter House closed last year.<\/p>\n<p>Herschefeld said the new American brasserie might open before year\u2019s end.
