The 49-year-old victim was shot outside his security job at \u201cThe Prince George,\u201d a site that provides affordable housing with supportive services, on East 28th Street and Madison Avenue

According to police, the victim is in stable condition and the investigation is ongoing as they search for a suspect<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason people are so freaked out is [that] this is a very, very, very safe area and this almost never happens here,\u201d witness Gabe Monroe said.<\/p>\n
Monroe, who works steps away, heard it unfold.<\/p>\n
\u201cI heard the shots. They were really loud. I went out. I heard the guy screaming,\u201d Monroe said. \u201cWhen they took him into the ambulance, he was still moving around and talking and stuff, so I hope he\u2019s OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNormally, I would be shaken up, but I just found out who it is, so that\u2019s the worst,\u201d a tenant at the building the victim works at said. \u201cOf all the people in this entire building, he\u2019s the most saintly person in the entire building.\u201d<\/p>\n
But sources say the shooting may be tied to an ongoing dispute.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Breaking Ground, the nonprofit that operates the building, wrote it is \u201cdeeply saddened by the incident involving one of our security guards near The Prince George earlier today. Our thoughts are with them and their loved ones, and the safety of our tenants, staff, and community is our top priority.\u201d<\/p>\n
