{"id":180797,"date":"2026-03-31T13:24:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T13:24:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/180797\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T13:24:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T13:24:06","slug":"man-40-fatally-shot-near-east-new-york-playground","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/180797\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 40, fatally shot near East New York playground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EAST NEW YORK \u2014 A 40-YEAR-OLD man was gunned down outside 410 Wortman Ave., near Jerome Playground, at approximately 9:10 a.m. on March 30, <a href=\"https:\/\/pix11.com\/news\/local-news\/brooklyn\/man-shot-multiple-times-near-brooklyn-playground-nypd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">PIX11<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, identified as Edwin Guevarez Jr., sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and right leg and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The assailant fled on foot; police described the suspect as wearing a ski mask, blue hooded sweatshirt, gray jeans and multicolored Jordans. No arrests have been made and the motive remains unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information may contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
