{"id":180892,"date":"2026-03-31T15:05:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T15:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/180892\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T15:05:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T15:05:10","slug":"manhattan-man-pleads-not-guilty-to-attempted-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/180892\/","title":{"rendered":"Manhattan man pleads not guilty to attempted murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Manhattan man pleaded not guilty to multiple alleged crimes including attempted murder at his arraignment in Riley County District Court\u00a0Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Jacques LaShawn Toliver, 38, pleaded not guilty to one count each of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and assault.<\/p>\n<p>Toliver was arrested Oct. 14 in connection to the shooting of 35-year-old Gustavo Sanchez three days earlier. Officers responded to a report of shots fired and found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Sanchez was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment of his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Toliver has remained in jail since his arrest, he is being held on a $1 million bond.
