March 31 (UPI) — Firefighters in New York came to the rescue of a cat that spent two days trapped inside the walls of a home’s basement.<\/p>\n
The Springville Volunteer Fire Department responded to Jessica Tallant’s home during the weekend when she discovered Freya, a 5-year-old cat belonging to her mother, was inside a basement wall.\n<\/p>\n
Tallant said she had been catsitting Freya for a few days when the feline vanished, and she later realized the cat was inside the walls.<\/p>\n
The homeowner captured photos<\/a> while firefighters worked to locate and free Freya.<\/p>\n “We did try a thermal imaging camera, and it would not pick up the small amount of body heat from the small cat. So we found out where it was, isolated a small area of drywall to be cut so we wouldn’t ruin the person’s whole walls, and it worked.
