VillageCare<\/a>\u2018s Board of Directors has appointed Shaun Ruskin<\/a> as the new president and CEO of VillageCare and VillageCareMAX<\/a> Managed Care Health Plans, the organization announced.<\/p>\n The appointment marks VillageCare\u2019s first new CEO since 2009, when longtime chief executive Emma DeVito took the helm. Ruskin had been serving as chief operating officer and, most recently, as acting president and CEO following DeVito\u2019s retirement. His elevation to the permanent role caps a tenure at VillageCare that began in 2010, and had included a brief departure before his return to help shape the organization\u2019s direction.<\/p>\n \u201cShaun\u2019s appointment as CEO reflects both the strength of his leadership and the Board\u2019s confidence in his ability to guide VillageCare into its next chapter,\u201d said John W. Behre, chairman of the VillageCare Board of Directors. \u201cHis strategic vision, deep understanding of the long-term care landscape and proven ability to align executive leadership around a common goal will be critical as we continue to drive exceptional outcomes, operational excellence, and superior member satisfaction.\u201d<\/p>\n Ruskin brings more than 20 years of senior health care leadership experience, with a track record in operational excellence, revenue growth, and quality outcomes. Those who have worked alongside him describe him as a unifying force among executive teams, consistently rallying leaders around a shared strategy.<\/p>\n Before rejoining VillageCare, Ruskin served as executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Centerlight Health Care, where he helped engineer a significant organizational turnaround. His work there strengthened quality metrics, member experience, provider engagement, and government affairs while restoring the organization\u2019s financial footing.<\/p>\n Ruskin is also recognized for his understanding of how managed care intersects with state and federal policy, having advanced mission-driven strategies that adapted to regulatory change while responding to shifting community needs.<\/p>\n In his new role, Ruskin will lead VillageCare\u2019s executive team in advancing the organization\u2019s strategic priorities, business operations, and commitment to member-centered care.<\/p>\n \u201cI am honored to continue leading VillageCare and VillageCareMAX alongside an exceptional Board and executive leadership team that has already shown what is possible through resilience, collaboration, and shared purpose,\u201d Ruskin said. \u201cHaving navigated challenges together, while delivering meaningful solutions, I\u2019m excited to build on that momentum\u2014setting a bold vision for the future of managed care, advancing innovation, and ensuring our work continues to anticipate and meet the evolving needs of our members and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n VillageCare is a New York-based nonprofit health care organization providing managed long-term care and other services to adults with chronic illness and disabilities.
