British actor Reg\u00e9-Jean Page<\/a> opens up about feeling completely alone and adrift during his past two appearances at the annual Met Gala. <\/p>\n

Page, best known for playing the brooding Simon Basset in Netflix\u2019s period drama series \u201cBridgerton,\u201d<\/a> told Esquire UK he learned that once someone arrives at the opulent fundraising event everyone is completely on their own, Esquire UK reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The 38-year-old actor attended the Met Gala for the first time in 2022 and again in 2025, according to People<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s the most glamorous room, the most exclusive echelon of society, all utterly lost and alone and searching for connection,\u201d Page told Esquire UK in an interview published on Monday. <\/p>\n

Page also stated that attending \u201cfashion\u2019s biggest night<\/a>\u201d made him feel very vulnerable, prompting him to further bond and lean on singer and actress Halle Bailey<\/a>\u2014his co-star in the upcoming rom-com \u201cYou, Me and Tuscany<\/a>,” according to Esquire UK. <\/p>\n

The film will premiere in theaters on April 10, IMDb reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Page and Bailey first met at the 2025 \u201cSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style\u201d themed Met Gala, where Page sported an all red custom-made Brioni<\/a> suit and Bailey wore a custom Coach tuxedo-inspired mini suit-dress, People reported. <\/p>\n

Other stars including singers Billie Eilish and Lourdes Leon have previously voiced similar critiques of the gala, describing the evening as an awkward experience where guests feel insecure among their peers, according to People. <\/p>\n

The 78th annual Met Gala will kick off on Sunday, May 4, at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City, with this year\u2019s theme being \u201cCostume Art\u201d under the event\u2019s co-chairs Beyonc\u00e9, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, Vogue reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n

While he didn\u2019t disclose if he\u2019d be attending the event for the third time, Page is currently balancing his acting career and running his production company, A Mighty Stranger.
