If there\u2019s an opening in your neighborhood that we\u2019ve missed, let us know at <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/news\/410407\/mailto:ny@eater.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ny@eater.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Soho: Executive chef and owner Hirohisa Hayashi turned his Japanese restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/venue\/8023\/hirohisa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hirohisa<\/a> into a new soba spot last month. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sobaulala.nyc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Soba Ulala<\/a> fully opened on Tuesday, March 31, focusing on a la carte house-made soba with hot or cold broths and toppings like duck breast or vegetables. Per the press release, the noodles are made twice a day using a mixture of buckwheat flour from upstate New York and a premium wheat flour from Japan. The rest of the menu includes small dishes like sashimi, tamago, fish collars, rice, and dessert, alongside lunchtime set meals and rice bowls. For drinks, there are sakes, shochu, beers, and wines from Japan, the U.S., and Europe. Hayashi plans on moving Hirohisa to a new location in the same neighborhood, to be announced later. 73 Thompson Street, near Spring Street<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Financial District: <a href=\"http:\/\/cafefleuri.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cafe Fleuri<\/a>, the floral-filled replacement to Vienna-themed <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2017\/5\/15\/15643836\/schillers-closing-nyc-mcnally-omg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Schilling<\/a>, already has some drama attached to it since opening in late March; per the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/24\/dining\/nyc-restaurant-news.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a>, its executive chef, Adam Baumgart, has already stepped down. Chef-owner Edi Frauneder\u2019s menu spotlights Southern France with touches of North Africa, notes the newspaper, with opening dishes like poached haddock with clams and white bean barigoule; braised lamb shoulder with merguez and turnips; and rice pudding with rhubarb and pistachios. 109 Washington Street, at Carlisle Street<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Financial District: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/goldenmallnyc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golden Mall<\/a>\u2019s new location in Manhattan quietly opened on Monday, March 30, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DWZclY_EZ4Y\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first set of vendors<\/a> that includes bubble tea chain Xing Fu Tang, a new location of Zhengxin Chicken Steak, and amusement center Max Fun Land. The long-awaited space is expected to <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/5\/28\/24438620\/golden-mall-fidi-chinese-opening-date\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eventually feature even more retail and restaurants<\/a>. Golden Mall opened its first location in Flushing in 1991, and it recently received a major renovation, <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2024\/4\/19\/24132546\/golden-mall-flushing-reopening-best-dishes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reopening in 2024<\/a>. 47 Broadway, between Morris and Rector streets<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Hell\u2019s Kitchen: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tachinyc.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tachi<\/a>, a 12-seat omakase counter with a two-room sake bar for walk-ins only, opened on Thursday, March 26. Named for the tachi blade on the Japanese sword, the minimalist space designed by BA+D features polished marble, razor-thin metals, hinoki wood, and a lengthy mural painted by hand. A la carte sushi is available, too. 339 West 44th Street, near Ninth Avenue<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Lower East Side: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/cocktail_omakase_nyc\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cocktail Omakase<\/a> opened on Friday, March 27, from the group behind hit cocktail bars Superbueno and Katana Kitten. The small bar will offer, as the name suggests, <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/news\/410272\/cocktail-omakase-bar-7-open-lower-east-side\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a Tokyo-inspired cocktail tasting menu<\/a> featuring four cocktails and four paired bites, with a menu that will change every two weeks. After more than <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/coming-attractions\/399393\/philippe-chow-flagship-closed-nyc-restaurant-upper-east-side-restaurant-reopening-phillipe-chow-fifth-avenue\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">two decades on the Upper East Side<\/a>, the celebrity hot spot relocates to \u201cLuxury Row\u201d with familiar favorites from chef Philippe Chow like whole Beijing duck carved tableside, chicken satay (with a Mo\u00ebt Champagne tasting option), lemon-and-pepper lobster, dumplings, and cotton candy baked Alaska. The new outpost <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/restaurant-openings\/410337\/piesnthighs-prospect-heights-opening\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brings a more family-friendly approach<\/a>, with the addition of dishes like chicken tenders and other new menu options, owner Sarah Sanneh told Eater NY. Now under new ownership, the Greek replacement centers around braised classics, wood-fired meats, hand-crafted pies, seafood, and smoky cocktails made with hibiscus-infused mezcal. 420 East 59th Street, between Sutton Place and First Avenue<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Upper West Side: With just a 30-minute heads-up on Instagram, <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/dining-report\/406589\/ayat-review-nyc-palestinian-restaurant-bay-ridge\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ayat<\/a>\u2019s anticipated NYC location opened Saturday, March 28, to an almost-immediate packed house. The Palestinian chain\u2019s new offshoot is called Ayat Hind\u2019s Hall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westsiderag.com\/2026\/03\/12\/uws-palestinian-restaurant-named-after-kindergartener-killed-in-gaza-nears-opening\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in honor of Hind Rajab<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2024\/4\/24\/24138333\/columbia-student-protests-gaza-nyu-divest-faculty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">five-year-old girl<\/a> believed to have been killed by the Israeli Defense Forces in early 2024, notes West Side Rag. Fast-growing Ayat, which is gearing up to expand to Philly and D.C., is known for its wood-fired \u201cpizzawarma\u201d topped with beef shawarma and halloumi cheese. The company had declared that it wouldn\u2019t be opening <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DVjtU01jxFZ\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">any more NYC-based locations<\/a> after this one. 941 Amsterdam Avenue, at West 106th Street<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Upper West Side: After just a year and change, Thai fusion spot <a href=\"https:\/\/avesnyc.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aves<\/a> rebranded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westsiderag.com\/2026\/03\/25\/openings-aves-donglai-pavillion-effys-cafe-m-m-lafleur-the-ups-store-pho-broadway-texas-rotisserie-school-of-math\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">under the same owners<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donglaipavilion.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dong Lai Pavilion<\/a> on Wednesday, March 18, with a refreshed focus on Northern Chinese cuisine. Lunch and dinner bring dim sum, Beijing duck, General Tso\u2019s chicken, and wok-fried beef to the table seven days a week, adds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westsiderag.com\/2026\/03\/25\/openings-aves-donglai-pavillion-effys-cafe-m-m-lafleur-the-ups-store-pho-broadway-texas-rotisserie-school-of-math\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">West Side Rag<\/a>, with regional items like typhoon shrimp, truffled steamed egg, and banana lava rolls. 102 West 86th Street, between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">West Village: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/vannestswedishcandy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">V\u00e4nnest<\/a>, a candy store specializing in sweet-and-sour delicacies straight from Sweden, opened on Saturday, March 28, with mix-and-match bins of imported treats like Bubs, fizzy skulls, and chocolate bars. 253 Bleecker Street, near Cornelia Street<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Williamsburg: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.balerabk.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Balera<\/a>, a new restaurant serving pizza and wine in a room featuring a disco ball, opened on March 26. Thin, Roman-style pizza is the draw here, plus smaller, snackier options like mozzarella in carrozza and Italian wines (Italy makes up 70 percent of the wine list), with many bottles under $100.
