You\u2019re saying this isn\u2019t about hierarchy. This isn\u2019t about who\u2019s above who. This is about people showing up, standing side by side, and reminding everybody where power actually lives.<\/p>\n
And on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 12:00 noon, that\u2019s exactly what happened.<\/p>\n
A little over 1,000 residents gathered across two locations, Warburton and Odell Avenue in Yonkers, and Warburton and Spring Street in Hastings-on-Hudson, for the third iteration of the No Kings Rally, co-sponsored by Concerned Families of Westchester (CFOW), NAACP-Yonkers Branch, NYCD16\/15-Indivisible, and Safeguarding Democracy.<\/p>\n
What stood out wasn\u2019t just the turnout.<\/p>\n
It was how people arrived.<\/p>\n
Not rushed. Not scattered. Just steady. Conversations already in motion. Signs are being adjusted with care. People greeted each other like they understood they were part of something shared before anything officially began.<\/p>\n
Two Spaces, One Movement<\/p>\n
Each location held its own energy, songs, chants, rally cries, but there was already a connection between them.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Two starting points.<\/p>\n
One direction.<\/p>\n
As both groups moved toward the roundabout, the rhythm stayed consistent. Footsteps in sync without trying. Conversations continuing mid-stride. A collective movement that didn\u2019t need instructions to stay aligned.<\/p>\n
When both groups met, there was no dramatic pause.<\/p>\n
No announcement marking the moment.<\/p>\n
Just a seamless merge.<\/p>\n
As if the space had already been prepared for everyone to arrive together.<\/p>\n
The Soundtrack Carried the Message<\/p>\n
At the roundabout, the music took over, not as background, but as reinforcement.<\/p>\n

Event staff, four representatives from each organization, were visible through custom tags and moved through the space with purpose.<\/p>\n

Facilitating an open mic with more than 30 speakers requires presence on its own. But doing that while relaying real-time directives from local police, ensuring both engagement and safety, requires awareness that extends beyond the microphone.<\/p>\n
The transitions stayed smooth.<\/p>\n
The energy stayed consistent.<\/p>\n
The space remained both structured and open.<\/p>\n
That balance doesn\u2019t happen by accident.<\/p>\n
The People Were the Center<\/p>\n
More than 30 speakers stepped forward.<\/p>\n
Not curated for polish.<\/p>\n
Curated for truth.<\/p>\n
People of all ages, races, ethnicities, and communities took the mic.<\/p>\n
Senior voices like Joanne Robinson Bottcher.<\/p>\n
Youth voices like Jonas Baer, grandson of Safeguarding Democracy leader John Baer.<\/p>\n
And Thomas Hoffman, a Holocaust survivor, whose testimony brought a stillness that didn\u2019t need to be explained.<\/p>\n
Each voice added to the shape of the day.<\/p>\n
Presence Over Position<\/p>\n
Elected officials joined, offering brief remarks and standing with the crowd:<\/p>\n
Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins.<\/p>\n
Senator Shelley Mayer.<\/p>\n
County Legislator David Imamura.<\/p>\n
Yonkers City Council Member Corazon Pineda-Issac.<\/p>\n
Greenburgh Town Board Member Ellen Hendrix.<\/p>\n
