Grammy-winning producer Sidney \u201cOmen\u201d Brown\u2019s cause of death has been revealed \u2014 six months after he was found dead inside his East Harlem apartment<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The 49-year-old hitmaker, who worked with Drake, Beyonc\u00e9 and Lil Wayne, died from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the medical examiner confirmed to TMZ<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The manner of death was ruled natural.<\/p>\n

The disease involves plaque buildup in the arteries, narrowing them and restricting blood flow, which can lead to heart attacks and other serious complications.<\/p>\n

Brown was found inside his East Harlem<\/a> apartment on Sept. 13, 2025, when a family member went to check on him. <\/p>\n

Loved ones were alerted after staff grew concerned when he failed to show up for a scheduled DJ shift at Barawine Harlem on W 120th St., where he worked for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

The hitmaker died at age 49 from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the medical examiner confirmed. @dinaregine\/Instagram<\/p>\n

At the time, the city\u2019s Office of Chief Medical Examiner said his cause and manner of death were pending further study, leaving his family searching for answers.<\/p>\n

His sister Nicole Iris Brown previously said the loss came as a shock, noting her brother appeared to be healthy and had no known illnesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was holistic and healthy. So we don\u2019t know of him being sick, so this is all pretty sudden,\u201d she\u00a0told NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope people will remember that he was willing to help the younger generation. He was always big on helping younger people start their careers and get themselves into the game. It was about just the music, no matter who the artist was.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New York native had long been a fixture in both the music industry and the local nightlife scene.<\/p>\n

Following news of his death, Barawine Harlem paid tribute to the producer, calling him a dear friend and praising the \u201cunique talent\u201d he brought over the years.<\/p>\n

In 2013, Brown co-wrote and co-produced Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s track \u201cMine,\u201d which appeared on her self-titled album. WireImage<\/p>\n

He also spent time working at Ethyl\u2019s Bar & Restaurant, where he was remembered as a DJ who could get the dance floor jumping.<\/p>\n

Brown first emerged in the 1990s, producing tracks for artists including M\u00fda and Fabolous, along with musicians affiliated with Roc-A-Fella Records.<\/p>\n

His big break came in 2006 when he produced Ludacris\u2019 track \u201cTell It Like It Is\u201d from the album \u201cRelease Therapy.\u201d The project earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2007.<\/p>\n

Brown also worked with Drake, co-producing his track \u201cShut It Down\u201d from his debut 2010 album \u201cThank Me Later.\u201d REUTERS<\/p>\n

He went on to collaborate with some of the biggest names in music, co-producing Drake\u2019s \u201cShut It Down\u201d from the rapper\u2019s debut album \u201cThank Me Later,\u201d as well as Lil Wayne\u2019s \u201cI\u2019m Single.\u201d<\/p>\n

Family and friends have remembered Brown not only for his music but for his willingness to mentor younger artists trying to break into the industry.<\/p>\n
