A film featuring actors from the Bronx<\/a>,\u00a0Elijah, is scheduled to screen at Yale University on April 9, 2026, at the Trumbull Nick Chapel Theater.<\/p>\n

Directed by New York\u2013based filmmaker Razid Season,\u00a0Elijah\u00a0follows a transgender son navigating family, faith, and identity within an immigrant Muslim household.<\/p>\n

The film features Bronx actors, including\u00a0Ajaz Alam\u00a0in the lead role and\u00a0Devon Slotnick\u00a0in a supporting role.<\/p>\n

Elijah\u00a0has been screened at universities and community organizations across the United States, including the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Asian Pacific Statewide Alliance (APSA), the City University of New York (CUNY), Brooklyn Pride Center, the Muslim Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity (MASGD), and New Plaza Cinema in New York.<\/p>\n

The film has also received recognition on the festival circuit, including the\u00a0Tasveer Emerald Award\u00a0at the Tasveer Film Festival in Seattle and an\u00a0Audience Choice Award\u00a0at the Phoenix Film Festival.<\/p>\n

Ajaz Alam, reflecting on his role, said: \u201cAs an actor representing the Bronx, I\u2019m honored that\u00a0Elijah\u00a0has been invited to Yale University. This recognition is especially meaningful to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cElijah\u00a0is my debut film,\u201d said Devon Slotnick. \u201cIt was exciting to contribute to a story that celebrates the resilience of working-class Bronx communities. Collaborating with this cast and crew has been a truly meaningful experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to tell a story that highlights people whose voices are often overlooked in mainstream media,\u201d said Razid Season, writer and director. \u201cElijah\u00a0is an inclusive, human-centered film, and I am honored it will be screened at Yale University.<\/p>\n

The April 9 screening at Yale presents the film in an academic setting as it continues to circulate through festivals and institutional programs.<\/p>\n
