VEG ER for Pets celebrated the opening of its newest full service emergency care facility in Manhattan Beach on April 1 with a ribbon cutting.<\/p>\n

The Manhattan Beach location at 1800 N. Sepulveda Blvd. is the second in the South Bay following the opening of its Torrance location in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n

VEG ER is open 24\/7, including holidays, and will be able to treat cats and dogs and other animals that have suffered ingested toxins, heart failure, bone fractures, and more life-threatening issues.<\/p>\n

At the ribbon cutting, Dr. Jonathan Yashari, senior hospital director\/medical director, said their ER is \u201cfull service.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you come into our hospital, not only do you get to stay with your pet the entire time for outpatient or inpatient procedure, but if there\u2019s a surgery going on, you can watch the surgery,\u201d Yashari said. \u201cOr sometimes, if you\u2019re really keen, you can scrub in and come into the surgery itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

When a patient needs to stay overnight, owners can sleep at the location.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur exam rooms actually have pull out beds, and we\u2019ll have we have sheets and pillows and toothbrushes for people that want to spend the night with their pet because they don\u2019t want to be apart from them,\u201d Yashari said.<\/p>\n

Owners can\u2019t stay in the X-ray room during the procedure, but can watch through a window, Yashari said.<\/p>\n

The facility has a full-service pharmacy, and blood and plasma are available of for dogs and cats that need a transfusion, Yashari said.<\/p>\n

VEG ER for Pets opened in 2014 and now has more than 100 hospitals, according to a press release.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur mission has always been to help people and their pets when they need it most,\u201d said Dr. David Bessler, founder and CEO of VEG ER for Pets, in a press release. \u201cOpening in Manhattan Beach allows us to do exactly that, by providing 24\/7 emergency care that treats the whole family with compassion and transparency.\u201d<\/p>\n

VEG ER for Pets also gives back to the animal community through its non-profit VEG Cares.<\/p>\n

VEG Cares is a partnership with the non-profit Veterinary Care Foundation, which helps raise funds for life-saving care \u201cthrough donations from local families, fundraisers and partners,\u201d according to its website.<\/p>\n

VEG also supports future emergency veterans through granting scholarships to doctor of veterinary medicine students.<\/p>\n
