Opening faceoff is scheduled fot 11:00 a.m. CT.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLAST TIME OUT<br \/>\nMarquette opened BIG EAST play with a 14\u201313 overtime victory over Providence on March 28 at Valley Fields, using a 6\u20131 run spanning the fourth quarter and overtime to secure the comeback win.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing 12\u20138 in the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles mounted a late surge to force overtime before completing the rally in the extra frame.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/ethan-salvia\/8285\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8285\" target=\"_blank\">Ethan Salvia<\/a> led the way with a career-high six points (3 goals, 3 assists), including the game-winning goal in overtime.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nHISTORY VS. ST. JOHN&#8217;S<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nMarquette and St. John&#8217;s meet for the 14th time in program history, with the Golden Eagles holding a 11-2 advantage in the all-time series.<\/p>\n<p>The Golden Eagles claimed last season&#8217;s matchup, 13-8, and has won 11 of the last 12 matchups. The series began in 2013 during MU&#8217;s first season of competition<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSCOUTING THE RED STORM<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSt. John&#8217;s enters Saturday&#8217;s matchup with a 2\u20138 overall record and an 0\u20131 mark in BIG EAST play.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Storm went 2\u20137 in non-conference action, earning wins over Quinnipiac and Hofstra before dropping their final five games. In their BIG EAST opener, they fell 21\u20137 to Villanova and are currently 0\u20136 at home this season.<\/p>\n<p>St. John&#8217;s was picked to finish last in the BIG EAST in the preseason poll, though redshirt junior attackman Adrian Nowak earned Preseason All-BIG EAST Team honors.<\/p>\n<p>Offensively, the Red Storm are led by redshirt freshman Noah Plenn, who paces the team with 28 points on 15 goals and 13 assists. Plenn ranks among the conference leaders in goals, assists, points, and shots per game. Ethan Wiegand has been effective at the faceoff X, winning 54.1 percent of his attempts this season. In goal, Matt Nelson has made 10 starts and holds a .500 save percentage.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, sophomore Quinn Falasca leads the team with 12 caused turnovers, which ranks fifth in the BIG EAST.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nMARQUETTE TRIO EARNS BIG EAST HONORS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nFor the third time this season, and second wek in a row, three Golden Eagles earned a Weekly Honor. <a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/ty-ambush\/8253\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8253\" target=\"_blank\">Ty Ambush<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/ethan-salvia\/8285\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8285\" target=\"_blank\">Ethan Salvia<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/colin-maloney\/8273\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8273\" target=\"_blank\">Colin Maloney<\/a> all shined in the BIG EAST opener against Providence to earn their honnors this week.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAmbush was named BIG EAST Specialist of the Week after dominating the faceoffs and played a crucial role in the Golden Eagles&#8217; comeback from a 12\u20138 fourth-quarter deficit. The Hagerstown, Maryland, native won a career-high 14-of-18 faceoffs (77.8%) while collecting a season-high seven ground balls in Marquette&#8217;s 14\u201313 overtime victory.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSalvia, was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in his career following his performance against the Friars. Salvia took over the game, scoring two goals in the fourth quarter before netting the game-winner in overtime. Saturday marked a career day for Salvia, as he posted a career-high six points, recorded his first career hat trick, and added a career-high three assists.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nJoining Salvia on the Weekly Honor Roll is <a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/colin-maloney\/8273\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8273\" target=\"_blank\">Colin Maloney<\/a>. This marks the first weekly honor of Maloney&#8217;s career after anchoring the Golden Eagles&#8217; defense. He posted a game-high and career-high eight ground balls while adding a caused turnover. Maloney was instrumental in securing possessions throughout the contest, especially during the Golden Eagles&#8217; late-game comeback. He also contributed offensively with his first collegiate point on an assist.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nEFFICIENCY IN THE CLEARING GAME<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nMarquette has established itself as one of the top clearing teams in the country through the first half of the 2026 season. The Golden Eagles rank third nationally with a .911 clearing percentage, successfully completing 185 of 203 attempts.<\/p>\n<p>AMONG NATION&#8217;S BEST IN BALL SECURITY<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nMarquette has taken exceptional care of the ball throughout the 2026 season, ranking eighth nationally and first in the BIG EAST with just 13.4\u00a0 turnovers per game.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nFACEOFF UNIT LEADS THE WAY<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe trio of <a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/ty-ambush\/8253\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8253\" target=\"_blank\">Ty Ambush<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/adam-slager\/8291\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8291\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Slager<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gomarquette.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/chandler-caster\/8260\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8260\" target=\"_blank\">Chandler Caster<\/a> has split time as Marquette&#8217;s primary faceoff unit this season, combining for a 133\u2013249 record (.534) at the X. The Golden Eagles&#8217; .534 faceoff winning percentage leads the BIG EAST and is 31st nationally, providing a consistent possession advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Slager leads the group with a .550 win percentage, while Ambush has taken on the bulk of the workload, winning 61 of 113 attempts.
