The Brooklyn Nets are continuing to give their G League players opportunities in their final stretch of the season. According to Mike Scotto of HoopsHype<\/a>, the team is calling up Trevon Scott and signing him to a 10-day hardship deal.<\/p>\n

The move comes after the Nets sent Malachi Smith back down to their G League affiliate in Long Island, as well as after Danny Wolf’s injury. The seven-foot rookie sprained his ankle in a March 22 loss against the Sacramento Kings.<\/p>\n

Scott is a former Cincinnati Bearcat, spending five years with the program. He redshirted his first year, spending the following two as a role player off the bench. In his junior season, Scott became a starter and averaged a double-double as a senior. He put up 11.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals across 30 games, posting 49-29-61 shooting splits.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-8 forward went undrafted in 2020, signing to play in Puerto Rico before finding his way to the G League. He first signed with the Salt Lake City Stars after being waived by the Utah Jazz. What followed was a six-season stint with six G League teams. He managed to play two games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, recording totals of six points, two rebounds, a steal and a block.<\/p>\n

Scott has spent the last two seasons with the Long Island Nets, averaging 10.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 33 games on 43-31-56 shooting splits.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn has six games left in its season at 18-58. The Nets have four games left in a five-game home stand, most recently losing to the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, 117-86. They’ve been spreading out minutes over the last few weeks, especially amid the absence of rotation players like Michael Porter Jr., Day’Ron Sharpe, Egor D\u0451min and more.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn is currently second in the lottery standings, meaning it has the best possible odds at the No. 1 pick (14%) and a 52.1% chance at the top four in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Nets moved up after the Indiana Pacers took down the Chicago Bulls last night, as both bottom-feeders hold a 1.5-game lead over the Sacramento Kings to be in the top three.<\/p>\n

Scott should get major opportunities from Jordi Fern\u00e1ndez and Brooklyn’s coaching staff with little to play for. The 29-year-old could prove that he belongs in the NBA after spending so much time in the G League.<\/p>\n
