JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Baseball dropped Game 1 of its series against Queens, 7-3, at Harmon Stadium on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Freshman infielder Drew Buchanan<\/a> notched the first home run of his collegiate career and turned in a 1-2 outing with two RBI and two walks. Redshirt sophomore outfielder Carter White<\/a> belted a solo home run and finished 1-4. It marked White’s sixth home run of the season.<\/p>\n Junior infielder Mitchell Collins<\/a> went 2-4 with one walk. Collins is currently on a seven-game hit streak and has recorded a multi-hit game in three straight games.<\/p>\n Junior outfielder Gialdri Gomez<\/a> went 1-5 and is now on a 12-game on-base streak and has reached base safely in 23 of the 24 games he’s played in.<\/p>\n Redshirt junior utility player Boone Hosey<\/a> went 1-4. Hosey improved his on-base streak to 17 games and his hit streak to 12 games.<\/p>\n Senior left-handed pitcher Kai Etwaru<\/a> was sensational out of the bullpen for North Florida. Etwaru dealt 4.1 shutout innings without allowing a hit and posted a season-high seven strikeouts with just two walks.<\/p>\n Queens opened the scoring with one run in top of the first inning and five in the second. Buchanan’s two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning cut North Florida’s deficit to four.
