This single-family rental in Windsor Terrace is part of a picturesque block-long row and a short walk from Prospect Park. At 207 Windsor Place, there\u2019s a blend of historic details, like a sleeping porch, and modern updates.<\/p>\n

U.S. senator and prolific builder William M. Calder developed the row of two-story brick houses. He put up so many homes in Windsor Terrace that the neighborhood, a \u201chappy, thriving community of homeowners,\u201d according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle<\/a> in 1919, was known as Calderville. He filed plans<\/a> for the single-family row houses on this block designed by Eisenla and Carlson<\/a> in 1914.<\/p>\n

The brick houses were advertised in 1915<\/a> as \u201cartistically decorated\u201d with hardwood trim, parquet floors, gas ranges, built-in ice boxes, and laundry in the basement. As pictured in the ads, they included ornamental parapets and open front porches. Those front porches were largely closed in by the time of the circa 1940 tax photos, including at No. 207<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This house was featured as an Open House Pick<\/a> in 2016 and it sold in 2017 for $2.1 million and again in 2020 for $2.65 million. There have been a few updates, including the addition of a mini split system, since it was featured in 2016, but the wood floors and the stair with an adjoining built-in bookshelf remain in place. A more recent reno included updates to the kitchen at one of the two full baths.<\/p>\n

On the main level that enclosed porch, with an updated tile floor, provides extra living space. The rest of the main level includes a living room, middle parlor with staircase, a dining room, and a kitchen with a breakfast nook. Walls throughout, and some of the trim, are painted white.<\/p>\n

The kitchen has an expanse of blue cabinetry, white counters, and stainless steel appliances that include a dishwasher.<\/p>\n

Upstairs, the layout still includes an original sleeping porch<\/a>, a feature Calder mentioned when advertising the block<\/a>. It now has fewer windows, but there are still three exposures. It is reached via a windowless room that could serve as a playroom. The primary bedroom faces the street and has an en suite bath.<\/p>\n

Laundry is in the finished basement which also has a half bath, storage, and a den.<\/p>\n

The paved rear yard is surrounded by a horizontal fence and has room for dining and seating areas.<\/p>\n

Compass\u2019 Anthony Matthews is noted as both the broker and the owner and the house is available for $10,800 per month. What do you think?<\/p>\n
