NEW YORK \u2014 A 44-year-old woman was struck and killed by an ambulance in a hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn on Thursday, according to law enforcement sources.<\/p>\n

The victim was struck as the ambulance traveling westbound on Avenue O turned left onto Ocean Ave. in Midwood around 6:38 a.m., the sources said.<\/p>\n

Video obtained by the Daily News shows the ambulance striking the woman as she attempts to cross Ocean Ave. before continuing south along the roadway.<\/p>\n

Medics rushed the woman suffering severe trauma to Maimonides Medical Center<\/a>, where she died.<\/p>\n

The vehicle sped off after the crash. It was not immediately clear if the driver was aware the pedestrian had been struck.<\/p>\n

Sources said the woman was struck by a private ambulance operated by Maimonides Medical Center.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Maimonides said two EMTs were suspended due to the crash.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Maimonides family is devastated by this tragic loss,\u201d the Maimonides spokesman said in a statement. \u201cOur EMT staff who were involved in the incident have been suspended pending the outcome of the NYPD\u2019s investigation. Our hearts go out to the victim\u2019s family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

The roadway on Ocean Ave. was in the process of being repaved where the woman was struck, with the top layer of asphalt being stripped away. No crosswalk was visible there as a result.<\/p>\n
