HAMDEN, Conn.\u00a0\u2013 The Manhattan Jaspers\u00a0softball\u00a0team (8-24, 4-9\u00a0MAAC), dropped both of its contests\u00a0against the Bobcats\u00a0from Quinnipiac (17-10, 13-3 MAAC),\u00a0by the final scores\u00a0of 6-0\u00a0and 10-1\u00a0at Quinnipiac Softball Field on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\n\tQuinnipiac got the scoring started rather quickly, as the fourth batter in the home half of the first singled to right field to break the ice.
\n\tManhattan tallied two singles in the first and second frame off the bats of Samantha Kelly<\/a> and Lainey Brown<\/a>, but both were caught stealing second.\u00a0
\n\tThe Bobcats compiled five more runs across the fourth and fifth innings, as two straight singles from Brianna Estevez<\/a> and Kelly generated the most offensive momentum thus far for the Green and White.
\n\tAfter both advanced to second and third on a wild pitch, three consecutive groundouts thwarted any chances to put runs on the board.\u00a0
\n\tKendall Penny<\/a> doubled in the top half of the seventh, but it was too little, too late for the Jaspers to end the matinee.

\n\tEven more so than\u00a0game one, the Bobcats pounced on their opportunity to score early, tallying four runs by the end of the first inning.
\n\tKaitlyn Moody<\/a> notched the first hit of the game for Manhattan in the second, but nothing more followed.
\n\tNow facing a 6-0 deficit, Brown and Penny grabbed a pair of singles to left field, but neither advanced past second.\u00a0
\n\tWhile Quinnipiac stretched their margin out to double digits by the end of four, Angelina Gencarelli<\/a>\u00a0started a rally for the visitors with her one-out single in the top of the fifth.
\n\tEstevez then reached on an error, setting up Kelly’s groundout\u00a0to bring home Gencarelli for the first Jasper run in either contest.\u00a0
\n\tNatalye DeBus’<\/a> subsequent groundout ended the afternoon by a final score of 10-1.\u00a0
