Cardi B<\/a> is stepping into politics again. This time, she\u2019s backing New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani<\/a>\u2019s initiative to provide free childcare to the city\u2019s two-year-olds.<\/p>\n

In a video posted on Friday, April 3rd, capturing a meetup between the two NYC celebrities, Cardi B agreed to help judge a competition to determine the jingle that will be used in commercials for the 2-K childcare program. Cardi B, a mother and a native of the Bronx, where the program will launch, talked about the importance of childcare in the video.\u00a0\u201cSometimes us women, we can\u2019t really go forward because we don\u2019t have nobody to help us take care of our kids,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Cardi B says: \u2018I can get \u2019em both. I don\u2019t wanna choose,\u201d Mamdani added in a statement. \u201cWith universal childcare, New Yorkers won\u2019t have to. For too long, families have been forced to choose between affordable care and staying in the city they love. Now, they can have both \u2014 free care in the greatest city in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the \u201cWAP\u201d rapper\u2019s first foray into politics. She supported\u00a0US Senator Bernie Sanders<\/a> throughout his presidential run for the 2020 election. Ultimately, Cardi B endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race, which he won.<\/p>\n

She has continued to be outspoken about issues Americans face, railing against rising grocery prices<\/a> and inflation in 2023. At the kickoff of her latest tour, she made defiant comments against ICE<\/a>.<\/p>\n
