Spring has finally clocked in and with it comes the annual migration to rooftops<\/a>. The latest contender: Golden Child<\/a>, opening atop Hotel Park Ave<\/a> on April 7.<\/p>\n

From Renwick Hospitality Group, the team behind Seed Library<\/a>, Foxtail<\/a> and Lindens<\/a>, Golden Child is aiming for that tricky middle ground of being polished without being precious and social without feeling like a velvet-rope situation. The pitch is essentially a members\u2019 club vibe, without the membership.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Inside, the aesthetic leans clubroom, while outside, a massive terrace (nearly 2,000 square feet) opens up to skyline views. Altogether, the 3,500-square-foot space can accommodate up to 350 guests, making it suitable for both sunset drinks and full-blown parties.<\/p>\n

But let\u2019s talk about the menu, because this is where things get a little cheeky.<\/p>\n

Executive Chef Carsten Johannsen is leaning into nostalgia, then rewriting it for grown-ups. The standout is the Golden Child Lunch Box, a reimagined PB&J that swaps peanut butter for pear and Brie, adds jam\u00f3n and mostarda and tucks it all into a buttered baguette. It comes with a chocolate chip cookie and (because of course it does) a boozy Capri Sun-style cocktail.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, the menu has both elevated bar snacks and playful comfort food: hamachi is served with yuzu vinaigrette and Montauk oysters\u00a0are dotted with grapefruit and shiso, while \u201cHot Pocket\u201d-style calzones, chicken tenders with Caesar dip and a double-patty smashburger round out the menu.<\/p>\n

The cocktail list is organized like a syllabus (there\u2019s Core Curriculum, Electives and Honors Program), featuring everything from a jasmine-laced gin cocktail to a mezcal-habanero mix dubbed \u201cThe Overachiever.\u201d There\u2019s also a lineup of shareable punches and a handful of non-alcoholic options for anyone pacing themselves.<\/p>\n

Golden Child will be open daily starting at 4 pm, just in time for golden hour\u2014and, if the weather keeps cooperating, right on cue for rooftop season to feel fully back.<\/p>\n
