Kathy Hochul&#8217;s proposed car insurance law changes. The governor wants to:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>crack down on multi-car staged accidents\/criminal enterprises<br \/>\nallow drivers to recover economic damages only if the injured driver is not at fault<br \/>\nnarrow the definition of serious injury, where if you can\u2019t perform customary activities for 90 days following an accident, you can potentially qualify for more damage<\/p>\n<p>New York does indeed have some of the highest insurance premium costs in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Capital Tonight heard from the other side of the issue with Andrew Finkelstein, president of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/nys-capital-tonight-time-graphic-promo960x540jpgjpg.jpeg\" class=\"hashed-image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-fifty\" alt=\"\" img-data-wrap-text=\"false\" img-data-editing=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Last week, Capital Tonight spoke with the ride sharing company Uber about Gov.
