A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a 7-month-old girl <\/a>who was struck by a stray bullet in New York City this week.<\/p>\n

Amuri Greene of Brooklyn was charged with three counts of murder, attempted murder, five counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of attempted criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of assault, the New York City Police Department said Friday.<\/p>\n

Greene was arrested and charged Thursday afternoon, police said. The NYPD on Thursday said that charges were forthcoming against him and that he was at the hospital.<\/p>\n

It’s not immediately clear if he’s retained a lawyer. <\/p>\n

A second suspect in the shooting was also taken into custody in Pennsylvania, police said in an update Friday evening<\/a>. <\/p>\n

That suspect was identified as 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez. Charges against him are pending, police said.<\/p>\n

The shooting unfolded Wednesday afternoon when two people on a moped came to the busy intersection of Moore Street and Humboldt Street in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg, and a person at the back of the moped opened fire multiple times, according to police. <\/p>\n

The baby, identified as Kaori Patterson-Moore, was struck and taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The moped fled after the shooting.<\/p>\n

The shooting sparked a citywide manhunt, with police sharing surveillance photos of two males and asking for the public\u2019s help in identifying them.<\/p>\n

The infant’s mother, Lianna Charles-Moore, told the New York Post<\/a> that Kaori was in her stroller when she was hit and that she initially thought the sound of bullets was fireworks. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter was innocent. She didn\u2019t deserve that. We were just going outside to go get her a few things and my son a few things,\u201d Charles-Moore said.<\/p>\n

Mayor Zohran Mamdani condemned the shooting as \u201can unthinkable loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot accept this violence as normal.
