Kyle Beaudry is constantly calculating, whether it be on the fencing strip, at the chessboard or in the classroom.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like solving puzzles,\u201d Kyle said. \u201cI like solving puzzles.\u201d\u00a0\u201cYou just need determination, but also discipline.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kyle Beaudry is always looking for ways to help his fellow Jaguars as captain of the John Jay Campus fencing team

The Brooklyn teen’s grade point average is in the high 90s
\n
Kyle also volunteers with his church, umpires at a little league and judges middle school debate tournaments<\/p>\n
Kyle, a senior at Millennium High School in Manhattan, is captain of the John Jay Campus Jaguars fencing team.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve made it my goal to not only be good at fencing and help the team in that way, but also help the team in like helping other people.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s always here early to set up. Last one to leave while setting up, always trying to help other people get better,\u201d John Tan, Kyle\u2019s coach, said.<\/p>\n
The Jaguars have gone nearly undefeated under Kyle\u2019s leadership. He placed fourth individually at last year\u2019s PSAL \u00c9p\u00e9e Invitational, and his \u00e9p\u00e9e team came in second in 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve made a name for ourselves,\u201d Kyle said.<\/p>\n
When he\u2019s not perfecting his lunges, Kyle packs and distributes food to struggling New Yorkers at his Brooklyn church. He also judges middle school debate tournaments and umpires little league baseball.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt brings me kind of like joy seeing other people do the things that once brought me joy,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I also just, I mean, there\u2019s a lot of people in this world who need help.\u201d<\/p>\n
From face-offs in fencing to competitions on the chessboard, Kyle also enjoys being a part of the Millenium High School chess club.<\/p>\n
\u201cChess is the biggest puzzle that someone could ever come up with,\u201d he said. It has \u201calmost infinite number of moves.\u201d<\/p>\n
If his packed resume wasn\u2019t enough, he has a report card to match it. Kyle boasts a 97+ GPA. He says math and science are also a passion of his.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do kind of enjoy doing the calc[ulus] homework and physics too.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kyle hopes to combine his love for math and physics with another passion down the line. He plans to study mechanical engineering in college, with the hope of becoming a rollercoaster designer.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a fun community to be, with, to be around,\u201d Kyle said. \u201cI\u2019m hoping to provide this community with more future rollercoasters that are more insane and fun than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
