{"id":185665,"date":"2026-04-04T20:18:42","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T20:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/185665\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T20:18:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T20:18:42","slug":"womens-lax-falls-to-fairfield-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/185665\/","title":{"rendered":"Women&#8217;s Lax Falls To Fairfield Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>                    &#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<br \/>\n &#13;<\/p>\n<p>FAIRFIELD, Conn.\u00a0\u2013 The Manhattan Jaspers women&#8217;s lacrosse\u00a0team (2-12, 1-4\u00a0MAAC), despite a hat trick from <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/lauren-maher\/10235\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10235\" target=\"_blank\">Lauren Maher<\/a>, lost its MAAC contest\u00a0to\u00a0the Stags\u00a0of Fairfield\u00a0(10-3, 5-0 MAAC) by a final score of 18-5\u00a0at Rafferty Stadium\u00a0on Saturday\u00a0afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tFairfield didn&#8217;t take long to get the scoring started, striking twice less than 70 seconds into the contest.&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/lauren-maher\/10235\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10235\" target=\"_blank\">Lauren Maher<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/ella-brunette\/12199\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12199\" target=\"_blank\">Ella Brunette<\/a> each notched a goal of their own\u00a0in roughly a minute and a half around halfway through the first quarter to knot the game up at two-all.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Stags then ripped off four consecutive goals before the end of the first, with three coming off the stick of Haley Burns.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tFollowing up their act to kick off the second, the lead for the hosts quickly bloomed to eight after the fourth of the quarter was scored just past six minutes in.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tMaher tallied her second before the Jaspers went to the locker room facing a 12-3 deficit.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tWhile the third quarter remained mainly uneventful for the visitors, <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/sofia-best\/12197\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12197\" target=\"_blank\">Sofia Best<\/a> scored off a feed from <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/moira-marcozzi\/10205\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10205\" target=\"_blank\">Moira Marcozzi<\/a> with under three minutes to play.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tBefore the game came to a close, Maher capitalized off the pass from <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/ella-hirsch\/12181\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12181\" target=\"_blank\">Ella Hirsch<\/a> to net her third goal of the afternoon.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>STATS AND NOTES<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSenior attacker <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/lauren-maher\/10235\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10235\" target=\"_blank\">Lauren Maher<\/a> found her way to three goals, her third hat trick of the season, all coming on the road.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tFreshman midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/ella-brunette\/12199\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12199\" target=\"_blank\">Ella Brunette<\/a> and attacker <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/sofia-best\/12197\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12197\" target=\"_blank\">Sofia Best<\/a> accumulated the two other scores for the Jaspers, posting their 35th and third, respectively.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tRedshirt Junior defender <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/julia-harvey\/12180\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12180\" target=\"_blank\">Julia Harvey<\/a> both caused the most turnovers (two) and scooped up the most ground balls (three) amongst her teammates.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tJunior midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/audrey-ziff\/10217\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10217\" target=\"_blank\">Audrey Ziff<\/a> won the most draw controls with four.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tRedshirt Junior goalkeeper <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/sophie-pasnak\/10241\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10241\" target=\"_blank\">Sophie Pasnak<\/a> logged 16 saves through a full 60 minutes, her second-highest total in 2026 (18, @ UMass Lowell).\u00a0&#13;<\/p>\n<p>NEXT UP:<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan will continue its 2026 campaign on Wednesday, April 8\u00a0when the Jaspers\u00a0continue their three-game road stint, this time facing off against the Gaels from Iona.
