NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani is under fire from local pols and other critics for blaming guns rather than criminals<\/a> for the shooting death of a 7-month-old girl in Brooklyn.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not our first family to know this pain,\u201d said the mayor, responding to the murder of infant Kaori Patterson-Moore, who was struck and killed by a stray bullet in her stroller<\/a> Wednesday as a gunman on a moped opened fire in a suspected gang-related incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cToo many children have never grown up into becoming adults. To parents who\u2019ve had to bury those they love most.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot accept it as normal in our city. We cannot grow numb to this pain, and today is a devastating reminder of just how much more work there is to be done\u2026 to combat gun violence across the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

Firebrand Councilwoman Vickie Paladino (R-Queens) accused Mamdani of firing at the wrong target because attacking lawbreakers doesn\u2019t fit his lefty political agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiterally anything but blaming the criminals who our system releases onto our streets repeatedly, over and over again, with no consequences,\u201d Paladino\u00a0posted on X<\/a>\u00a0Thursday. \u201cAbsolute disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Right-wing commentator Brittany Hughes also chimed in on X, noting \u201can 83-year old veteran was killed<\/a> in New York City last month after being randomly pushed onto the subway tracks by an illegal alien. Mamdani didn\u2019t say a word because trains aren\u2019t a good political prop, and he won\u2019t condemn criminal aliens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hizzoner\u2019s remarks about the heinous crime \u201csuggests that he is uncomfortable with acknowledging that the murder of Kaori Patterson-Moore was committed by two evil thugs whose callous disregard for the value of human life should disqualify them from ever experiencing freedom,\u201d Manhattan Institute fellow Rafael A. Mangual told Fox News Digital.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cFraming this as a gun problem rather than an evil gangbanger problem is more familiar territory for a self-styled progressive whose political base is constituted by people simultaneously \u2014 if dissonantly \u2014 committed to the cause of gun control as well as efforts to reorient the criminal justice system to be more lenient toward the offenders who pull triggers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amuri Greene, 21,\u00a0<\/a>was arrested and slapped with murder charges<\/a> in the infant\u2019s death, police said.<\/p>\n

A second suspect, Matthew Rodriguez, 18, was arrested in Pennsylvania<\/a> Friday.<\/p>\n

He allegedly drove a moped carting the alleged gunman, who authorities said opened fire at the corner of Humboldt and Moore streets in Bushwick.<\/p>\n
