Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase expands to Industry City\u2019s largest venue in 2026, featuring 500+ artists, panels and free programming.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase<\/a> is leveling up in 2026, moving into Industry City\u2019s largest venue, The Box Factory, after surging demand from artists and fans alike. The two-day event is set for April 18\u201319 and will introduce expanded programming, including panels, workshops\u00a0and creator signings, all free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Since its launch in 2022, the showcase has quickly grown into a major gathering for independent comics creators, small-press publishers\u00a0and enthusiasts. Founded by St. Mark\u2019s Comics<\/a>, the long-running comic book and collectibles shop, the event was created to spotlight local talent and provide a platform for artists to share and sell their work directly to the community.<\/p>\n

The move to a larger venue marks a significant milestone for the showcase, which began as a modest, single-day outdoor event. Its first year featured around 50 vendor tables, drawing a strong response from attendees. That momentum carried into its second year, where participation doubled to more than 100 tables.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had 260 vendors across 200 tables for 2023, and had to turn people away,\u201d said Mitch Cutler, co-owner of St. Mark\u2019s Comics.<\/p>\n

In response to this demand, the team polled their vendors to gauge interest in moving to a two-day format. More than 75% of respondents loved the idea, prompting that shift for 2025, organizers said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new venue at Industry City allows for a broader and more dynamic experience. In addition to hundreds of exhibitor tables, attendees can expect a full schedule of programming designed to engage both aspiring creators and longtime fans. Panels will bring together industry professionals to discuss trends and techniques, while hands-on classes will offer opportunities to develop artistic and storytelling skills. Signings will also give visitors the chance to connect directly with creators.<\/p>\n

The 2026 showcase will feature participation from leading arts and education institutions, including the Art Students League, School of Visual Arts, Pratt Institute\u00a0and the High School of Art and Design. More than 500 individual artists and small-press publishers are expected to take part, making it one of the largest independent comics events in the region.<\/p>\n
