Some fans \u2014 including Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and \u201cSportsCenter\u201d anchor Scott Van Pelt \u2014 weren\u2019t thrilled with the NCAA\u2019s decision to have the Chainsmokers perform at Lucas Oil Stadium in between the Final Four games Saturday.<\/p>\n
After UConn secured a spot in its third national championship game in four years<\/a> and before Michigan cruised past Arizona<\/a>, the Grammy-winning duo took over the venue from a stage tucked away from the court and delivered the entertainment to bridge the showdowns \u2014 playing songs that included \u201cDon\u2019t Let Me Down,\u201d their hit that won Best Dance Recording at the 2017 Grammys.<\/p>\n \u201cThis Chainsmokers concert in between games is playing off like somebody lost a bet,\u201d Portnoy wrote in an X post with a video from the show attached. \u201cI like the Chainsmokers but nothing has ever made less sense than this.\u201d<\/p>\n The Chainsmokers perform in between games at the Final Four on April 4. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect<\/p>\n Ven Pelt also wrote in a social media post, \u201cWho asked for this?\u201d<\/p>\n And when one fan called out the anchor and asked what he had against the Chainsmokers, Van Pelt replied, \u201cNot one thing. NBAE via Getty Images<\/p>\n The Michigan-Arizona game, which was supposed to start at 8:49 p.m. ET, didn\u2019t tip off until approximately 9:20 p.m., around an hour after UConn-Illinois ended.<\/p>\n Portnoy, a Wolverines fan, was thrilled with what he described as a \u201ctotal ass kicking\u201d in another post on social media.<\/p>\n Michigan led by as many as 30 points and cruised to a 91-73 victory, with Aday Mara fueling their offense with 26 points and nine rebounds while Elliot Cadeau added 13 points and 10 assists.<\/p>\n The Chainsmokers are pictured performing between games at the Final Four on April 4.
