The man who died in an overnight fire in Middletown has been identified as a former New York City firefighter. <\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s name has not been released pending notification of family members.<\/p>\n
The fire broke out at a residence on Starhaven Ave. early Saturday morning, claiming one life and injuring several first responders, according to the Middletown Fire Department.<\/p>\n
Two police officers were taken to Garnet Health Medical Center for smoke inhalation and three firefighters were evaluated and treated at the scene for minor injuries.<\/p>\n
Authorities say the firefighters discovered the victim inside the home while battling the flames.<\/p>\n
