He was 65.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Greene had served with the state police for more than 20 years. He was a zone sergeant who was last assigned to Troop B, Zone 2 in Canton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to police, Greene\u2019s passing is a line-of-duty death because he died from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Greene retired on July 17, 2002.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and his sons, Robert and Daniel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WWNY.
