I love New York and I love Long Island, but New York State must tighten its belt and cut taxes. One way is for the state to stop counting overtime toward its staff pensions.<\/p>\n
New York has a wonderful pension system, one of the finest in the country, but it is costly to taxpayers. If overtime would no longer go toward pensions, New Yorkers’ taxes might go down or at least not increase as rapidly.<\/p>\n
Focus on a more efficient system.<\/p>\n
