Though the team fell 3-1 to the Hudson Valley Renegades, the result did little to dampen the mood among a lively and loyal fan base eager to celebrate both a new season and a milestone year.<\/p>\n<p>The anniversary marks 25 years since the return of professional baseball to Brooklyn \u2014 a revival that hadn\u2019t been seen since 1957 \u2014 and for many in the stands, the significance wasn\u2019t lost.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-241002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-4-6-26-at-3.00-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"Brooklyn Cyclones\" width=\"700\" height=\"469\"  \/>Excited fans hope the team can achieve back-to-back High A Championships.Photo by Erica Price<\/p>\n<p>Superfan David Pecoraro, better known as \u201cWolf,\u201d has been part of that journey for decades. A season ticket holder since 2013 who attended his first game in 2001, Pecoraro said opening day felt like a long-awaited reunion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sitting here on April 3 in short sleeves, how else am I supposed to feel?\u201d he said. \u201cThis is what I\u2019ve been waiting for all winter since they won the championship.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As for expectations this year, his answer was simple: \u201cHey, let\u2019s do it again. It was so good doing it, so let\u2019s do it again.\u201d<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-241008\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-4-6-26-at-2.57-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"464\"  \/>The Brooklyn Cyclones take the field on opening day at Maimonides Park.Photo by Erica Price\n<\/p>\n<p>That optimism stretched across the ballpark.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Josh Bernstein, a Prospect Heights resident, said his experience is about more than just wins and losses.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe environment is a blast, and the kids love coming here,\u201d he said. \u201cMy sons are in little league, and they do a night here where they get to come \u2014 it\u2019s always a great time,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nearby, another fan nicknamed Lefty Screwball, summed up the mood in just a few words: \u201cBaseball is back in Brooklyn; Cyclones all the way!\u201d<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-241003\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-4-6-26-at-2.59-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"Brooklyn Cyclones\" width=\"645\" height=\"424\"  \/>Lefty Screwball, a devoted Cyclones fan said he hopes the team goes \u2018all the way\u2019 this season.Photo by Erica Price\n<\/p>\n<p>Even those working the game shared in the excitement. Paige Rocker and Allie Miller of the Surf Squad dance team said the 25th anniversary adds an extra layer of meaning to the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing back to back would be cool,\u201d they said in unison, referencing another potential championship run.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just want to have a really fun season, celebrating the 25th anniversary \u2014 it\u2019s a great year,\u201d Rocker added.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-241006\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-4-6-26-at-2.56-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"Brooklyn Cyclones\" width=\"674\" height=\"448\"  \/>Borough President Antonio Reynoso declared April 3, 2026 Brooklyn Cyclones Day.Photo by Erica Price\n<\/p>\n<p>For families, opening day offered more than just baseball. New Jersey resident Ryan Fischer attended with his daughters, Maddie and Oakley, who got the chance to participate in an on-field game \u2014 a highlight of the day.<\/p>\n<p>The family, devoted fans of the New York Mets, brought that same passion to Coney Island.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe bleed blue and orange,\u201d Fischer said, noting their support extends to the Cyclones as well.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-241009\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-4-6-26-at-2.57-PM-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"464\"  \/>A Cyclones player connects with young fans while signing autographs ahead of opening day.Photo by Erica Price\n<\/p>\n<p>Mike Smith, a dad playing with his daughters around the stadium, echoed other fans\u2019 hopes of another championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been coming to games for 20 years, but consider myself a \u2018right-in-the-middle\u2019 fan,\u201d he said with a laugh.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>Now 0\u20132, the Cyclones aim to bounce back as fans hope for a turnaround.
