2 Suspects Arrested In Connection To Shootout At Heritage Homes<\/a><\/p>\nOn March 10, officers responded to the CVS located on Mamaroneck Ave., after receiving a report of two suspects attempting to pass counterfeit money. At the scene, officers saw two men exiting the store and entering a gray Nissan sedan. When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver intentionally struck a marked police vehicle and sped away, according to cops.<\/p>\n
The pursuit was terminated in the interest of public safety, VMPD said.<\/p>\n
Detectives, however, continued the investigation, reviewing surveillance footage, analyzing license plate information,
and coordinating with NYPD. The suspect’s vehicle was eventually traced to a recent purchase through a dealership.<\/p>\n
Police said database analysis, and coordination with probation authorities, led to the identification of one of the suspects, 36-year-old Shakir S. Cole, of the Bronx. Investigators learned the he had prior involvement in counterfeit currency-related cases, authorities said.<\/p>\n
On March 31, members of the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department made a visit to Bronx County Probation, where Cole was taken into custody during a scheduled probation appointment. He was taken to Village of Mamaroneck Police Department headquarters for processing.<\/p>\n
Cole was criminally charged, processed, and released on his own recognizance following arraignment, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in the Village of Mamaroneck Court on Apr. 16.<\/p>\n
