(WIBW) &#8211; The City of Manhattan is conducting its annual Spring Cleanup Week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It provides free curbside pickup of tree limbs and other yard waste throughout residential neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">City of Manhattan Public Works Operation Dan Tyson says the cleanup helps the community by keeping debris out of streets and storm drains. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt just gives the opportunity for people that don\u2019t have the means to take stuff out to the transfer station, we can do that for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tyson said the effort can also help protect the city\u2019s stormwater system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cBasically to keep stuff from washing down the streets into the stormwater system, it helps with that,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s just good for trees and everything, glass to be pruned up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Crews will visit every neighborhood throughout the week. Residents are asked to stack yard waste on the curb before 7 a.m. on the day of pickup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tyson said the city is using multiple departments to cover the cleanup route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe use every bit of our street maintenance crew, plus our storm water maintenance crew and some helpful parks employees also,\u201d he said. \u201cSo it\u2019s a big operation, we\u2019ve got five different crews running around town right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tyson also reminded residents that pickup depends on accessibility and the type of material set out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIf it\u2019s too far away we won\u2019t get it,\u201d he said. \u201cIf there\u2019s cars parked in front of it blocking it we can\u2019t pick it up.
