With flowers beginning to bloom and warmer weather among us, the Queens County Farm Museum<\/a>, located at 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy., is a perfect springtime destination to step away from the bustling city and enjoy a peaceful escape to the idyllic farm grounds, complete with historic buildings, farm animals, and a garden.<\/p>\n

The month of April is filled with vibrant events, from their annual carnival, which transforms the farm grounds into a fair complete with rides, games, and carnival snacks, to interactive outdoor workshops, and more. If you\u2019re looking for something fun to do with family or friends, these events are perfect for all ages.<\/p>\n

Saturdays and Sundays, April 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 & 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

The 29th Annual Apple Blossom Carnival is returning to the Queens Farm on weekends in April, transforming the grounds into a festive atmosphere filled with rides for kids and adults, carnival games, and classic carnival food and drinks to indulge. The annual Apple Blossom carnival is a great way to spend the weekend with family and friends, unwinding and enjoying a range of fun activities while basking in warm springtime weather. Tickets cost $19- $39 and can be purchased online.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sunday, April 12, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

Let your kids explore this hands-on adventure, learning all about these six-legged creatures in the farm\u2019s latest Bug Buddies series. Held at the Education Building, young ones can learn all about the hidden habitats and bug superpowers of ants, along with other fun and fascinating facts about these insects and the colonies where they live, including their complex social roles, strength, and their own form of agriculture. To attend, class is $12 per person, and tickets may be reserved online.<\/a><\/p>\n

\nBee-a-Pollinator: Earth Day Service<\/p>\n

Wednesday, April 22, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering at the farm for the afternoon, connecting with others, and enjoying a day outside engaging in activities such as a farm-wide cleanup, mulching trails and paths, and clearing brush. The event, which is free to attend, provides an interactive way to engage with Earth Day\u2019s 56th anniversary, dedicated to protecting the planet, while supporting a great cause and socializing with others. For the farm\u2019s next event in their Meet Our Animals series, guests will have the opportunity to meet another group of farm animals from the grounds including getting up close and personal with the hens to observe and learn more about them, learn plenty of fun facts and information about the way the farm animals live and connect with one another, as well as how to take care of them in your own backyard. The event is $12 per person and may be purchased online.<\/a><\/p>\n

\nGarden to Table: Nature on the Farm<\/p>\n

Sunday, April 26, 10 to 11:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

Get in touch with your inner-gardener and learn more about how to incorporate vegetable growing techniques, whether you\u2019re looking to start your own garden or are ready to volunteer at a nearby community garden. The session lets participants visit the farm\u2019s teaching gardens to discover plants grown in each area, taste plant-based dishes created entirely from seasonal fruits and vegetables, participate in a hands-on gardening activity, and prepare a dish to take home and cook along with recipes.
