{"id":188658,"date":"2026-04-07T19:13:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T19:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/188658\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T19:13:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T19:13:08","slug":"nysphsaa-recognizes-winter-2026-scholar-athlete-teams-and-number-of-individuals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/188658\/","title":{"rendered":"NYSPHSAA Recognizes Winter 2026 Scholar-Athlete Teams and Number of Individuals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By: NYSPHSAA Staff<\/p>\n<p>                &#13;<br \/>\n                    Story Links&#13;<br \/>\n                    &#13;<\/p>\n<p>                LATHAM, NY &#8211; The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) announces the Winter 2026 Scholar-Athlete teams and number of scholar-athlete individuals, recognizing the outstanding academic achievements of student-athletes across the state.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nA total of 3,409 teams earned Scholar-Athlete recognition this winter, while 40,013 individual student-athletes achieved Scholar-Athlete status by earning an academic average of 90.0 or above for the marking period.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTo qualify as a Scholar-Athlete team, at least 75% of a team\u2019s rosters\u2019 average must be 90.0 or higher. Teams that qualify receive a Scholar-Athlete certificate, while individual students earning the recognition receive pins to acknowledge their accomplishments.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cThe Scholar-Athlete program continues to highlight the incredible commitment our student-athletes make to excellence in both the classroom and in competition,\u201d said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. \u201cBalancing academics and athletics at such a high level is a tremendous achievement, and we commend every student and team recognized this winter.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThis winter, 647 schools participated in the program, representing approximately 82% of NYSPHSAA\u2019s membership.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe full list of Scholar-Athlete teams and the number of individuals per team are available on the NYSPHSAA website.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/nysphsaa.org\/documents\/2026\/4\/6\/Winter_2026_Scholar_Athlete_Teams.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Winter 2026 \u2013 Scholar-Athlete Teams<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/nysphsaa.org\/documents\/2026\/4\/6\/Winter_2026_Scholar_Athlete_Number_of_Individuals.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Winter 2026 \u2013 Scholar-Athlete \u2013 Number of Individuals<\/a><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLooking ahead, the Spring 2026 Scholar-Athlete submission window opened April 6, with a submission deadline of Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
