{"id":188842,"date":"2026-04-07T21:42:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T21:42:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/188842\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T21:42:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T21:42:23","slug":"bank-moves-to-foreclose-on-swiftys-in-bethlehem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/188842\/","title":{"rendered":"Bank moves to foreclose on Swifty&#8217;s in Bethlehem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BETHLEHEM\u00a0\u2014 Swifty\u2019s Restaurant and Pub, the Four Corners mainstay that was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/tablehopping\/article\/swiftys-pub-delmar-albany-closed-taxes-21223503.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">briefly shut down by the state<\/a> in December over a multimillion-dollar unpaid tax bill, owes\u00a0NBT Bank over $100,000 and the lender is moving to foreclose on the property.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A lawsuit filed Thursday in state Supreme Court in Albany alleges the owner, Dave Swift, stopped making payments on a $300,000 mortgage on the restaurant\u2019s Delmar location at 367 Delaware Ave. on Nov. 18, days before state Department of Taxation and Finance seized the property and two other Swifty\u2019s locations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit says Swift and his estranged wife, Rebecca Swift, also failed to make payments on a $25,000 line of credit. In total, they owe $108,768 with interest accruing daily.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear if the other Swifty\u2019s locations in Colonie and Utica are also in foreclosure. The summons says the Swifts have 20 days to respond to the lawsuit or a default judgment will be entered against them and NBT Bank will take control of the property.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Albany Business Review first reported the news of the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The foreclosure proceedings are the latest blow to the troubled watering hole. A Taxation and Finance spokesperson told the Times Union that Swift owed the state $2.2 million in sales tax revenue.<\/p>\n<p>A database of state warrants named Swift \u201cindividually and as a responsible person of Swifty\u2019s Restaurant and Pub Inc.\u201d and\/or other people and business entities associated with the restaurant in 15 separate warrants dating to 2016 for unpaid sales and withholding taxes in Albany and Oneida counties.<\/p>\n<p>The Delmar location reopened after its seizure and has been serving customers through the winter and early spring with a limited menu.
