As the city approaches Mayor Zohran Mamdani\u2019s 100th day in office, some members of the business community are showing skepticism.<\/p>\n
In a letter to shareholders, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said the city could see a large exodus of wealthy New Yorkers and major companies moving out of the state as the mayor continues to push for increasing taxes for wealthy New Yorkers and corporations.<\/p>\n
Steven Fulop, the president and CEO of the Partnership for New York City, joined \u201cThe Rush Hour\u201d on Tuesday to talk more about the mayor\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n
The mayor’s office, after Fulop’s interview, told NY1 in a statement, “JP Morgan Chase recently opened a $3 billion headquarters in Midtown in an effort to recruit more employees in New York City. The most recent jobs data indicate that New York City added more than 10,000 private sector jobs in January. The labor force participation rate is at its highest point in the city\u2019s history. Manhattan\u2019s office space leases just reached its highest point in more than a decade. The fact is that corporations continue to invest and expand in New York City because of our unmatched talent pool and world-class amenities.<\/p>\n
The affordability crisis threatens New York City\u2019s competitiveness because talented young people cannot afford the cost of housing and the cost of child care has made raising a family in our city far too expensive. Mayor Mamdani is focused on growing the economy and addressing the affordability crisis so that New York City remains competitive.”<\/p>\n
